Bringing people together, in wholeness and heart
About Me
Hi, I’m May
Somatic therapist, yoga & movement coach, women's circle facilitator, mother.
I live in the real, complicated world just like you!
I feel deeply and bring compassion to everyone I work with - inviting you to bring all of your messy self to sessions - truly accepting all that you are without judgement.
I believe the state of whole presence to be deeply healing and I work in different ways to gently facilitate that - be it by connecting to nature, the sensations of the body or through heart-led communication with others.
I believe that connection and community are essential for well-being and my group and individual offerings allow women to be deeply seen and accepted, and heal collectively.
My story
My first yoga class, I’ll be honest, I just didn’t get it. I couldn’t stand all this stillness and loud breathing. I felt stiff, uncoordinated and self-conscious.
A few years later I tried again. I was feeling very anxious at the time, and came to it as a desperate last resort to ‘sort my head out’. Surely there must be something in this yoga thing?
This time, under the teaching of the wonderful Cara Bowen, something magical happened. I was finally able to come down from the anxious thoughts in my head. With the support of the ground underneath me I could find my own stability, arrive in the present and let go. I was able to breathe again.
Since then, yoga has led me on a rich, explorative journey, which continues to unfold every day. I have unlocked long held patterns of tension and discovered how the mind and body are one and the same.
The more I practiced, the more I wanted to integrate this into my everyday life.
In 2013, I stepped away from my secure ‘office job’ in London, and had a transformative year – volunteering at land-based social enterprise, Embercombe, qualifying in massage and traveling to India to train as a yoga teacher.
Since then, I have trained further – qualifying as a British Wheel of Yoga 500 Hour Yoga Teacher with the teachers influenced by Vanda Scaravelli. I’ve also undertaken Life Coaching training with MOE, as well as been on numerous courses and workshops to enhance my knowledge and experience of nature, the cycles of the moon, women’s wellbeing, the menstrual cycle and more.
In 2018, I became a mother and entered the deep initiation of motherhood. I went on to train in Pregnancy Yoga with the British Wheel of Yoga, somatic therapy with the Focalizing Institute - and undertook a foundation year in Herbal Medicine with Heartwood Education.
Although there is still a long way to go (!) I make many more decisions based on love and life, instead of fear, and live with my two feet firmly planted on the earth.
I share this learning and the practices I have discovered and developed with my clients through group workshops and one-to-one somatic therapy online and in-person.
I love supporting women in their own journey of self-discovery, whatever form that might take.
Providing the space and guidance to make positive changes and steer their life towards their true aims and desires.
If you’d like to see how I could support you please get in touch – I’d love to hear from you!
With love,
May x
